I have an Ultra ATA (PATA) drive 13-14 years old, I was upset that the computer broke at the time (I had a lot of family photos), I hadn't seen the drive in a couple of years and I finally found it last weekend; I never bought a cable for this purpose, I'm glad I chose this one, very easy to use (there is a video link in the product description, very helpful). I couldn't be happier, recovered my files and zeroed and formatted my good old hard drive.
