Review on BURNOUT Temperature-Regulating Travel Mug 16 oz Black - Drink NOW & HeatZorb Technology by Daniel Casper

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Wasn't impressed. Didn't stay hot until my $16 travel mug. Not worth $100

I tried this on a trip just a few days ago. I finished my coffee in less than 2 hours and when I took my last sips it was lukewarm at best. Admittedly I drink coffee slowly and in small sips and may have left the hatch/drinking area open. Personally I didn't think it would make much of a difference, but it pains me to think of closing when I take a few sips over the course of a few minutes. My other cups close with a push of a button/automatically, so that's also a definite disadvantage. So, to compare apples to apples, so to speak, I'll be doing a side-by-side comparison over the next few days and posting my results. My idea is to pour boiling water into each of them, measure the temperature at the beginning, again after 5 minutes (to check the cooling function), and then at 2 hour intervals. If successful, I will taste coffee in each of them on different days, periodically measuring when drinking in my usual way, and updating. Updated - tested. With just boiling water, my Contigo got a little warmer after 2 hours. Tried boiling water and coffee; Almost 2 hours later (that was when it was over) the Contigo was 4.5 degrees warmer. Without boiling water preparation, the Contigo was 10.8 degrees warmer after almost 2 hours and even slightly warmer than the burnout with water preparation. Yes, it cools down instantly, but I really always pour hot coffee into a travel mug and start drinking, no. I usually fill it up and carry it to the car when I charge it up and then start drinking, so it's really not worth the extra $80, especially when it's no better than my cheap travel mug and I. How is the Contigo button better (I don't have to remember to close it)

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
