These stools were a real bargain. We needed something to lean on and thought stools might be a possibility. We thought it would be overkill and unnecessary to buy ones that cost hundreds of dollars. So when we discovered them, we were intrigued. We bought recycled memory foam recommended by others and filled it. Tip: Carefully break off larger pieces of foam etc. when compressed. Don't break the foam, let it expand, and then stuff! We're still planning on stuffing them a bit more but thought we'd see how they work with the stuffing shown in the picture. They make great footstools! However, with memory foam padding, they probably aren't a good place to sit, for obvious reasons. Also to reports about smells: goat droppings, chemicals etc. all I can say is yes, they smell. Do they smell like poop? No poop I snorted. Do they smell like chemicals? Yes, they do. I imagine what substances they use to treat leather during or after the tanning process. It's uncomfortable? Not really. Almost citrus seems to hit Windex. We left them in our living room in the evenings and only used them. The smell went away after two days. I found rooms rubbed with pine salt smelled worse than these things. Don't let that bother you. Did I mention the stitching is top notch? Or that the skin feels great? Or that the zipper feels good enough to withstand the padding when a grown man sits on it? This is a quality product. If anything changes I will post an update.
