I think the people who said it was crispy in their review probably didn't wash theirs before putting it on the bed. I washed mine and right out of the dryer it was very wrinkled. I'm not the type to iron my sheets so I didn't and just threw them on the bed. Even if I had ironed it I don't think it would be very crispy without the starch. In order for the material to hold such a structure, it must have a thicker thread and a tighter weave. Although the description accurately states that it is 12 inches long, the picture is very deceptive as the top of the feather does not appear to be 12 inches from the ground in the photo, but appears larger. In fact, my caliper size is 9.5 inches, so the skirt doesn't even get close to the ground. If you have a platform bed it might look more like the photo but the fabric still won't be nice and stiff and it will show through because this fabric is so light.
