We love the over door hooks, but in our new house the doors are thicker (1 3/4″) and the clearance between the top of the door and the frame is minimal so our old plastic hooks are better. Doesn't fit. After some searching I found these hooks and they work great. SMART DESIGN - The gap is wider on one side than the other, so you can easily fold the hook over depending on the width of your door. They fit our 1 3/4" doors perfectly - we didn't have to force them into place, but they are snug enough not to slip. The metal is strong enough to hold multiple garments at once. And the hooks are fairly short, so they're unobtrusive when not in use. I wish they were pre-colored in different colors, but a quick spray of white spray paint solved that problem. The price per hook compares very well to hooks at our local hardware store (which weren't the right width anyway). s). Great organizers at a good price. One last thing, I was concerned about the simple metal hooks with no vinyl covering, but the edges are polished well. no sharp edges.
