Review on πŸ”³ Noctua NF-A9x14 HS-PWM chromax.Black.swap: Premium Quiet Slim Fan (92x14mm, Black) by Corey Slivinsky

Noctua quality. No connector fan

This is a Noctua fan. Couldn't be better than Noctua. There are two things I don't like that they do with their black Chromax line. The Chromax line is for better aesthetics, but they still have some kind of code number printed in white on one side of the fan housing, which makes it look ugly. These fans plug directly into a 4-pin socket instead of including a reasonable length cable ending in a 4-pin connector like almost all other existing fans and all other Noctua fans do. This makes cable management more of an annoyance, as the included extensions leave you with a much longer cable than the standard fans, plus you have to run cables through a bulky port next to the fan, while brown fans do if you need an extension far enough be removed that it is mostly invisible and easier to lay. Unfortunately, noctua releases versions of black Chromax fans that address this last issue, but they only ship with Chromax coolers. So if you don't want the bulky fan pedestal version of these fans, your only option is to buy a Chromax cooler with the fan you want, then resell the cooler without the fan or whatever, and leave the fan to its own devices.

Pros
  • 14mm slim design is ideal for low profile 9cm CPU cooler (e.g. Noctua NH-L9 series), compact PC cases and other applications with limited space
Cons
  • Some difficulties
