Review on FiiO E10K USB DAC and Headphone Amplifier - Superior Black Audio Enhancement by Adam Jackson

Probably the only amp you need if you don't want to spend more than $300. I recently bought a pair of HD650s and have tried several amps but none of them can properly power the HD650. I have a FiiO K1 and I really like this little USB DAC/Amp so I decided to give it a try. FiiO's official website stated that the E10K is an updated version of their older E10 model that includes a newer DAC and amplifier chip. Received this amp/DAC same day and here is a quick review. - Build Quality: Very nicely made, no sharp corners to cut yourself (like other cheap Chinese products). FiiO has always had good aesthetic design and quality materials. The switches and rotary knob feel good to operate. I also like the front blue LED indicator when the device is on. Looks pretty cool - Headphone handling: As mentioned, I use this unit with my Sennheiser HD650 (300 ohms). In short, it manages those banks with ease and is loud enough when you want to be deafeningly listening. Be sure to set the switch to High Gain to get good volume levels with higher impedance headphones. So for those who have an HD600/HD650, yes it will power them with no problem. Sound quality: FiiO wowed everyone here with its DAC/amplifier combination. The sound quality is warm and detailed even after hours of playing in. This amp is very easy to listen to and works very well with Windows 10. I turned off the bass boost and used the iTunes equalizer setting instead. This thing is seriously audiophile quality. and will definitely outshine many more expensive amps. The E10K gets the most out of my HD650 without too much effort. I think most people will find this amp to be a great sounding DAC/amp. Conclusion: With its beautiful looks, ease of use and great sound, it's hard not to recommend this DAC/amplifier for Hi-Fi use. Thanks to modern technology, products like the E10K could exist at such a low price point. This unit is a serious amp with a very good built in DAC. If you have a nicer pair of headphones, do yourself a favor and check out this article before spending more money on other DACs/amps.
