Review on Sony MZ N420D Walkman Digital Player by Justino Pratama

Revainrating 3 out of 5

I'm glad Revain calls this device a "player ".

Unlike previous Sony portable CDs, this unit cannot record directly from a CD player. It can only record through a computer and with a computer. Initiation of the recording process. Luckily I have a hi-fi component MD recorder for recording. What is more worrying is that the first unit of this model that I received failed immediately. Noise as he struggled to turn the wheel. I have chosen to return the device to Sony instead of the Revain marketplace. Don't repeat my mistake. Sony trades for a refurbished (not new) unit, although I never got a second of playback from the original unit. The Sony unit played plays fine but some of the computer software on the CD has a few scratches (I don't know if I'll ever be able to use it as I'm a MAC owner and the software is only used with a PC can ) . It seems that the phasing out of portable MDs that can be ripped straight from a CD player is the music industry's power play to gain more control over how and if music can be ripped onto an MD. I only bought this unit because I have a large collection of homemade MDs. For beginners, I would advise you to buy a portable CD player and forget about minidiscs.

Pros
  • Great design
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
