Review on Enhanced Dayton Audio DAC01 USB Audio DAC with 24-bit/96 kHz Output via RCA Connector by Maurice Branch

Looks cheap, works great with my PC

I was attracted to this device because it is very simple and I have a very simple use case. I have two bookshelf speakers (Dayton MK402X) and a Kinter K2020+ amplifier. Basic entry-level setup. For more complex setups you'll want to step up the market a bit, so this isn't the device for everyone. I rate it by purpose and price. It was a big upgrade over the Aorus motherboard's onboard audio. It's audible even to my untrained ear. I'm amazed at how my music sounds now. For $35 it gave me a huge change in the way I listen to my music collection. So I would say it's a good value. Maybe there are better alternatives in this price range, I don't know. I'm just saying it worked for me. I'll probably upgrade over time, but for now I'm satisfied. There were no problems with the device. Windows 10 detected it automatically with little effort. All I had to do was change the audio output device to DAC01 in the Windows taskbar menu and I was playing music from it straight away. The LED light is a bit bright lol - it will blind you trying to look at it. Stick a piece of tape on it if you can. For $35 I won't complain too much. Fit and done? $35 again. It's not an artistic sculpture, it's purely a function. Decent aluminum body, seems solid enough. The connections seem to be solid enough. Nothing bad or bad about USB or RCA connectors. I liked it. In the long run I'd like a really good DAC that will last for years, but for now it does the job I needed at a bargain price. So, if you need to upgrade your PC's sound cheaply, this is definitely a viable option.
