For the last few winters my thumbnail has cracked vertically from the tip to the base of the nail. Last year it took several months for it to grow back. I bought this nail repair kit this year and managed to stop the crack before it got too long. It took a few months for my nail to grow out of the initial crack but this kit helped keep the nail intact. The set contains a tube of superglue with an extra long tip. The extra tip was only a nuisance because there is no way to close the sticky lid with the tip. I ended up throwing it away because the tip of the glue bottle is pretty small; a bottle of very fine sand; and a saw. Apply a drop of glue to clean nails and spread over the cracked area. Then sprinkle the still wet glue with sand. Then apply another drop of glue. Finally, sand it down. I have found that a glass nail file is better for filing to a smooth level with the nail. It saved me two nails this year. Now I won't be without.
