These controllers are excellent and good value. I have a Raspberry Pi that I turned into a retro gaming station and this controller is perfect for it. It also works well with emulated Game Boy Advance games and several arcade games. Controllers are limited as they only have directional, launch, select and down buttons. There are no buttons or anything like that. The controller is indeed similar to the original controller, only slightly lighter and cheaper in some areas. The cable has a certain length but I would say it doesn't reach from the TV to the sofa. It's pretty much plug and play. The default controls work for me, but you can customize them however you like. These controllers don't work for a classic and the plugs are different than those on the classic, which I think is a shame. This worked for the classic SNES, but with limited buttons. The appearance corresponds to the original controllers except for the USB part. All in all, these controls are great for multiplayer simulations or the like.
