Okay, first of all I really like this product. However, there are some serious security issues. The way it attaches to the door frame really puts stress on the jamb and molding. Well, if you're in a typical home, the door frame is nailed at best and glued at worst. This means that when the vise clamps are tightened, the connection is simply removed. How the top bar is fixed depends on the profile's resistance to loss. The small metal clip is grossly inadequate, serving more as a lever to rip off the bar than anything else. The vise itself does not grip the entire door frame. It could be if the lips were a lot deeper than they really are, but they aren't. These are really simple design flaws that any decent engineer could understand. I ended up having to reinforce the door jamb with a few cleverly placed screws right where the vise clamps attach, as well as reinforcing the bar at the top with a few more screws. Without these additions he would not have withstood the trials of childhood. With these additions, he could now handle any adult with ease. I'd rather have some sort of screw-in security to protect everything, and suffer a little more from the lack of portability than the fundamental flaws in the current design. I'm keeping it and currently happy with it, but only because I've been able to easily customize things to suit my security needs. With some extremely easy and practically free upgrades, this device will easily exceed even my security requirements. So please check everything visually, don't take anything for granted and test it yourself with another adult watching to make sure the final installation doesn't move as it may cause a crash!
