I have used this item before. Now it's hard for me to get into the attic because of my knees. This item allows me to install my ceiling fan without crawling through the attic. I needed a friend to run a power line from my existing power source to my overhead outlet. BUT I could run the power cord from the PSU to the fan with this product. That's exactly what a person needs to install a ceiling fan and lighting.
