Review on πŸ§₯ SOLOCOTE Boys Winter Coats: Lightweight, Water-Resistant & Windproof Packable Hooded Jacket (Sizes 4-12 Years) by Jason Childs

At best, this is a fall coat. Weak zipper

This coat is advertised as a winter coat. It can be suitable for places with very mild winters but too bright for northern winters like Minnesota and Wisconsin. Best of all, it can be an autumn or spring jacket. The construction of the jacket is quite well thought out, with strong stitching that should stand up to use. Has two pockets outside and two more inside. The zipper is open, with a plastic latch that doesn't inspire confidence in me. I could see the end latch breaking with rough use, so it's definitely a weak point. If it tears, then this coat is useless. The coat appears to be true to the size we ordered. If this coat was advertised as a fall jacket, I would agree. But it doesn't, and that's the problem. The label states that the outer and inner lining of the coat is nylon and the filler is polyester wadding. The polyester filling is not even that extensive, it consists of a fairly thin layer, no more than a few millimeters thick. Although the coat is warm enough when worn in the typical cool temperatures of mid-autumn weather, I would never send my son out in the cold with this piece due to the construction and materials. The heat just isn't enough for that. Because it's so light and despite claims to the contrary has an open zip, the wind cuts right through. This coat should not be advertised as a winter coat. It's not a bad coat. In fact, my son will be wearing it all fall, but don't pick this coat if you're looking for a serious winter coat. This isn't one.
