I bought this because my cat likes to climb my curtains and not climb my curtains. I first bought a traditional cat tower with scratching posts and multiple tiers but that didn't satisfy her desire not to climb the curtains.When the tree arrived I assembled it but only installed a platform between the last two sections.She climbed immediately from the base straight onto the pole the platform and started playing while exploring my realm she loves it so much I bought a second vertical I have to straighten the pole daily and the other day she jumped so hard that the flimsy coupling broke and the rod fell in. I easily repaired the rod by buying a short piece of heavy-duty 1/2 PVC pipe from a local hardware store and cutting it to length already had to cut off one of the two thin pieces of pipe to make the tower fit my ceiling. I think it would be an improvement to add a single piece of heavy duty tubing, or replace the tension spring with a threaded hole and add a long threaded rod to press against the ceiling. Only the reaction to spring tension and the brittleness of the supplied PVC pipe kept me from giving it 5 stars. use.
