We've been making ice cream at home for a long time and have had at least one of these containers almost since we started. We started putting ice cream in Pyrex trays and then in the freezer, but it wasn't very convenient. I bought one of these and it made a huge difference. First, they stack up well in our freezer door. This frees up a lot of space and also keeps the ice cream in the warmer part of the freezer, which makes it a bit soft. If your ice cream gets a bit hard, the shape of these containers makes it easy to take out the layer layer by layer. You simply sweep the scoop in a flat path along the bin and get a good scoop every time. The bottom of the container is rounded so you don't have to dig or use sharp objects to get the last bits of aroma. These containers are perfect for making a scoop of ice cream in our KitchenAid ice cream maker. , fill a container so that each family has a bowl. Our old ice cream maker was a little smaller than the ones you buy at your local department store and the entire batch fit perfectly in these bins. They're plastic so I'd hand wash them to be safe, but the smooth surface makes that very easy.
