I have been using epilators for over fifteen years. Yes they do wear out over time, for some reason there are a lot of plastic parts in engines and nothing lasts forever but in my experience they typically last 3-5 years. It was one of the most expensive epilators I've ever bought but I really wish it had a wet/dry option as I've heard that the heat of a bath or shower can make epilation less painful. Well the first time I used it in the bath it broke. It wouldn't turn off and when I tried to charge it after the battery eventually died, it got very hot. You shouldn't burn my house down, but I'm very disappointed that I threw away $100. It's not something I use every day on my whole body, I mainly use it on my armpits and the little hairs growing on my legs so I only use it once every few weeks. It should have lasted much, much longer at all costs, but Braun really should be ashamed.
