**There is NO "locking mechanism” in the chair as shown in the picture**. What could have been a lock doesn't work because the details have been left out. I just assumed it was locked after unboxing it, turns out that was a huge mistake. And initially we had no problems with it - until it fell under my child's nose trying to sit in it today. Unfortunately the chair was held too long to return. I'm trying to get a refund from my credit card. Won't be buying furniture from Revain again, this is the fourth chair we've received and the other two were junk too.
