Let's go again! My wife and I got a nice Christmas present of a 60" plasma smart TV for the living room (plasma or LED? 600Hz refresh rate for soccer games!) and needed a stronger bracket than the ones that supported the old 40" TV held. Once again I researched, read and studied. My latest Revain TV mount was such a good buy I wasn't sure I could beat it, but I did it! For less than $40 shipping (!) we got this mount that meets all the standards we were looking for. Plasma TVs are heavier than LEDs, this one weighs over 80 pounds, but the mount is TWICE the weight of 175 pounds! I've compared myself to Cheetah who used to get good reviews but seem to have changed their design to a two-piece back (to save on shipping) and I prefer the one-piece back on this mount-it, it just seems stronger. So we installed it with 3 wall studs instead of the 2 used by the last bracket, using the original 2 holes and adding 4 more so there are 2 rows of 3 screws each holding this thing. Same procedure as before, drill a pilot hole for the screws, use soap to lubricate the threads, use a ratchet wrench instead of a mechanical wrench to avoid stripping the threads, check the tightness with a spirit level before turning tighten them. Yes, the instrument has its own bubble level, but some reviewers said it was inaccurate, so we checked with a long bubble level. The Mount-It spirit level was also correct. So the block is straight and well fixed, and it's not going anywhere. I attached the guides to the TV and hung them on the bracket with no problems. Now the only negative thing about this mount. There are 2 screws behind the bracket that must be screwed UP to prevent the TV from detaching from the bracket. There is a VERY small gap behind the TV, definitely not enough to put your hand behind it with a screwdriver. I had to use a roughly 18 inch long screwdriver to find the screw with a flashlight and patience but I got both screws in. The tilt function would also be tricky to set up, but I simply set both guides to full tilt and pushed them down BEFORE hanging the TV, so this wasn't a problem for us. The TV is high up on the wall and tilted down and we both find a great view from both the chair and the couch, no problem. The last thing to do was run all the cables through a flat vinyl tube to conform to the wall so no cords or wires were showing. Pretty easy job, took about 1.5 hours (slowly, measure 3 times and drill once) and just the two of us, no specialists needed! Lengths, spacers, etc. I didn't need anything other than what was in the box except tools. (for less than $40?!) There are even provisions for mounting to concrete or brick walls, which I don't want to bother with on my own. shipped and it far exceeds the required weight specs for our new tv and the best part is you can't even SEE it it's nice and close to the wall. GREAT deal for less than $40!
