Review on πŸ” PQY Universal Separator - The Ultimate Tool for Catching and Baffling by Mark Estrada

Loose connections, leaking, ineffective

I have yet to install/use a trap but after the initial inspection and re-reading the reviews I decided not to risk it. The first thing that struck me was that it was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. I've had a few others in the past and they were at least twice the size. This isn't really a disadvantage for me as it makes finding it in the engine bay a lot easier. The main issue and the reason I will be back is the ability to seal. The inlet/outlet fittings that screw into the tank are loose or tight. It seems the threads are on the verge of getting small and even with the tape on them they are still very weakly threaded. Then they just have nothing to cling to. They aren't long enough to fit snugly against the back and eventually just screw in until the hex hits the side of the cylinder which of course doesn't seal on its own. So that was my main concern as I went back to the reviews to see if anyone else had the same issue. Reading the reviews I found other complaints that seemed to match my own experience so I decided to go back: The drain plug is too loose - causing oil to leak out as it builds up. The filter doesn't separate oil/water vapor well and doesn't keep it in the can - I've had the same problem with other cans which basically makes them a moot point. For someone like me who intends to bleed the vacuum from that cylinder through the intake manifold, this will surely act as a vacuum leak and cause potential problems. It will be a "no" from me.
