I'm used to shooting with a Nikon D40 DSLR. My wife wanted this Nikon coolpix that Ashton Kutcher draws with his finger while he's running around the party annoying everyone. The reviews were terrible, I searched through every touchscreen camera and almost got an Ulser trying to pick the right one for my wife's birthday. I wanted to give her the qualities she wanted, but I also wanted to make sure she wasn't disappointed with the images she received. With several of these touchscreen cameras on the market, there is little choice. If you need DSLR quality you basically need a DSLR if your wife wants a cute sexy slim little pink camera that she can throw in her purse and that can be a source of almost endless entertainment hits this camera 100% upside down. The photos are good. In daylight they are really good. We play beer pong with friends in the garage at night, the pictures are a bit grainy. But no more than any other P&S camera. The touchscreen isn't like an iPod, it's a little soft to the touch but is much, much, much more responsive than LG's junk phone called Incite. like ipod touch screens, but a close second and very useful. It has many little nifty features, you can make people smile when they're not smiling, you can give things a fisheye look, make things sparkle, you can draw on the screen and do all sorts of things with stamps, frames, etc This camera embodies pretty much everything that the seasoned photographer despises about new cameras, but I have to admit that this little device is a lot of fun to play with. it's a full 5 out of 5 stars because while the image quality isn't up to my snobbish DSLR user standard, it's 100% what she was looking for, she absolutely loves it.
