My child literally and figuratively tears up shoes so we wanted something durable, wanted but also don't spend $50 destroy or grow in a few weeks or months. He's had them for over a month now and they seem to hold up well to every trip to the woods and even a wash in the washing machine. Velcro and no laces, that's why we got them. We don't need a metal grip on the sole of the shoe at all, but it folds into the sole of the shoe and doesn't seem to scratch the floor. I could probably pry the metal part out with a screwdriver if I really wanted to. Other more neutral color schemes would be nice. I would buy them again and probably will when he outgrows them.
