Review on Authentic Rainbow Of California Original Nylon Bifold Wallet - Made in the USA! by James Yarbrough

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Affordable and durable product with some annoying design flaws

I bought this wallet to replace my vegan faux leather double gusset which was beginning to fray and tear after just a few months of use. For the price, this wallet is a worthy alternative to the more expensive leather and synthetic versions, however, there are a few notable design flaws which, if rectified, would greatly improve the quality of this piece. Advantages - longevity. I've only been using this wallet for 6 months but the stitching is immaculate and the finish looks brand new. The wallet got wet several times (and got wet once), but the nylon dried quickly, the appearance did not change and retained full functionality. (Note that while the wallet is water-resistant it is not waterproof, so any liquid that seeps into the zipper will affect the contents of the bill pocket.) - Zipper closure. It seems like an odd taboo for "minimalist" and "utilitarian" purses to have zip pockets, but luckily Rainbow of California didn't jump on the trend. (Personally, I'd rather have a slightly larger wallet than constantly trying to pry bills/changes out of the bottom of my pockets after they slip out of the folds.) The Velcro is convenient, strong, and much more secure than a snap-on clip . I would happily recommend this wallet to anyone looking for a relatively simple and inexpensive product that won't fall apart in 5 minutes. Compared to my previous wallet, which is sold by a vegan brand that specializes in synthetic products that look and feel like real leather, it costs more than triple and dies relatively quickly. slip out of the inner pockets when the wallet is turned upside down. I keep losing my ID, credit and debit cards in my jacket pockets and have spilled them on the floor more than once. This design flaw is compounded by the fact that the interior pockets are massive and are clearly not designed to fit snugly inside a standard credit card. While the wallet comes with a plastic insert for extra card storage, I've encountered the same oversized issue when using these cases. Also, the plastic stitching is quite flimsy and tears easily during card removal/insertion, and the liner itself is easily (and unintentionally) removed from inside the wallet. The card compartments are not only too wide, but also too narrow. thick and numerous. The compartment that separates the zippered bill compartment from the card slots (which might be for loose change?) adds extra volume to an already bulky wallet. I'll go on and suggest that I'm no exception here and most people don't tend to carry 100+ cards a day, but seriously. This thing is MASSIVE. All in all, the overall design of the wallet does not seem well thought out and leaves a lot to be desired. Although this product is economically and generally worthy, it would be greatly improved if outstanding design flaws were corrected. I would like the width/capacity of the bag to be significantly reduced and the interior replaced with grippier material and the plastic card pockets either changed or eliminated altogether.
