I'm really surprised by the amount of positive feedback here. I rarely feel the need to write a negative review. However, after a few weeks of (trying) I found this blanket to be practically useless. As for the claim that it's "waterproof," it's not. A spill or accident involving a puppy is instantly absorbed by the fabric. In fact, you could almost say it's the complete opposite of waterproof. I think the only way you could call it protective is that the surface underneath doesn't usually get dirty or wet as this duvet absorbs and holds liquid. Some moisture still got into the bottom layer, but not much. So if a blanket that's advertised as waterproof absorbs (or "retains") liquids quickly rather than repel them, then it's important that it's relatively easy to wash. "This blanket is not! Very difficult to wash and dry. In the washing machine it absorbs so much liquid that the washing machine shakes. When it finishes with a spin cycle (or 2 spin cycles) it is still very wet and heavy! In the dryer, it takes several cycles (3-4 cycles is required in my experience). All in all, the blanket I received isn't exactly waterproof or even waterproof. Doesn't repel water. It really absorbs and very quickly AND VERY DIFFICULT TO WASH/DRY I was very disappointed considering what I paid for it.
