Very Good RC Airplane Mounting Tape (also compares Scotch Strapping Tape to Duck Brand Strapping Tape)

Update 9 February 2013: Title changed from Great Deal! 6 rolls, not 1!" to "Very good RC airplane tape" INITIAL REVIEW (May 12, 2012): Works fantastic and I'm not sure if they were wrong or not (I hope not), but it actually came in a box with ***6*** full rolls of 2 x 360" (10 yards) strapping, 60 yards total! If that's always the case, then that's a great offer! - I personally thought the price ($7.32) was very high for a roll, but now that I have 6 I'm very satisfied. ---------------------- ----- ----------------------- ----- ------------------ ----- ---------------------- -------------UPDATED REVIEW (February 9, 2013): I repurchased this tape and unfortunately only 1 roll of tape arrived for $6.11 which means this tape is great too is, but not at this price. The exact same roll of tape can be purchased at my local Walmart store for $3.47. In addition, Duck brand tape now produces comparable tape at $6.27 per 30 yards. It's called Duck Brand High Performance Strapping Tape, 1.88" x 30 yards, 3" Core (392903) and it's available at Revain here: Duck Brand High Performance Strapping Tape, 1.88" x 30 yards, 3" " Core (392903) ) I'm an avid fan of RC airplanes (<.>) and very often use strapping to build airplanes from scratch. It works FANTASTIC when its extra strength OR stickiness over regular clear tape is needed. It makes good control surface hinges and also gives the wing more strength. Adding a few pieces of this material to the top and bottom of an entire 4 foot wing, for example, is tantamount to embedding carbon fiber into the wing. It's so strong and really stiffens the wing. So I just bought some of these new Duck Brand straps and here's what I think of these two straps: 1) The strap is slightly lighter and thinner. . I measured the thickness with calipers (micrometers) and the Scotch is 0.11 mm (0.00433 inches or 4.33 mils) thick and the Duck brand is 0.14 mm (0.00551 inches or 5.51 mils ) thick. Duck Brand strapping also contains more fiberglass. Both are good because they seem to indicate Duck Brand duct tape is stronger, but bad for airplanes since Duck Brand duct tape is heavier. Band is 1.88 inches wide. The wider the better for my purposes as if thinner strips are needed each tape can easily be torn down the center by hand to halve the width. 3) Both have the same stickiness/stickiness! So Duck tape sticks just as well as Scotch tape, which is a lot stickier than regular clear packing tape! Very good 4) Scotch tape cuts easier in cheap plastic dispensers, although both tapes require significantly more force and tension to cut properly than regular packing tape. Note: If you're using Duck Brand strapping tape in a plastic tape dispenser, which I recommend for 3" diameter rolls (the roll in this review is NOT; it's smaller), a Duck Brand tape dispenser (eg: Duck Brand EZ Start Tape Dispenser Pack). , 1.88" x 60 yards, 2 packs, plus 30 yard bonus roll of Duct Tape, Clear (1079097) performs better than a Scotch brand tape dispenser (Example: Scotch Sure Start Shipping Tape with Dispenser, 1.88" x 38.2 m , 1 dispenser roll (3450S-RD).
