We had a garbage problem in our apartment because someone decided to put a wine cooler right next to the garbage (heating waste. Mind you, that's after someone decided that she needed a wine cooler). I don't know what the magic in these things is, but they really help with the smell. This doesn't completely eliminate the smell, but makes it much more bearable. I think the best way to describe the recycled smell is "old laundry that has always been in the closet but was freshly washed when it was put in". c." That means "fresh" doesn't smell, but it doesn't smell like garbage either. I'm very happy with it.
