Great gift for my husband for the price. It's not wood and you can tell it's not wood, but it doesn't look cheap. Actually I was pleasantly surprised. Depending on how much you add to each side (how thick) you may have to take out a few pages, but there are plenty. I didn't have to take anything out, but I didn't add anything thicker than the photo. If you're cutting and adding something with a lot of depth, and you're doing it with a lot of sides, then I doubt they can all fit. Essentially, it comes with front and back "pieces of wood", sides and ropes. You have to thread and tie it yourself, but it wasn't difficult at all. For the price I was happy and would definitely recommend it.
