When I bought this laptop stand it sold for $5 which is important because I don't think it was worth $20 to me. It does everything it's supposed to: tilt my laptop about 30 degrees and look good. My laptop has a 16" widescreen that stands securely: the laptop's feet don't rest on the stand, but the base of the stand has a grip to keep it in place. In addition, there is a place under the stand, which is easy to reach from the side due to its shape. Not sure if this stand is what I need for cooling purposes, it drops down at the back to allow some airflow but doesn't allow for suction on the sides and the flow will be at the back. If your laptop is prone to overheating (like my roommate's) this isn't practical as he'd be better off putting it on top of books for better bottom airflow (as a 1" duct might not be enough). when hot air is blown from behind or cold air is coming in from the side or your hot spots are not exactly in the middle). However, for keeping the laptop in one place and giving it a little angle and lift it's great (at $5).
