Review on πŸ’» Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio for iPad mini - Carbon Black: Seamless and Stylish Device Enhancement by Wanick Palermo

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Excellent case, almost perfect except for a couple of keyboard layouts that make it awkward for experienced typists.

I was really hesitant about giving this product 4 or 5 stars. I ended up giving 4 stars because while it's a really high quality case and keyboard, they work really well and overall make my iPad Mini 2 a much better device with it than without it; There are a few seemingly insignificant design decisions related to the keyboard layout that could easily be changed to make it much better when used for two-handed typing. The case keeps your iPad secure when closed, and magnets keep the case securely closed. I wouldn't want to drop it onto the concrete from a second-story window, but I find it handy to keep in my briefcase, in the passenger seat of a car, or in my hand as I walk around the house or office. When open, the iPad opens the same way a laptop screen does when the laptop is open. In "laptop mode" the magnets hold everything together so well that the assembly can be carried from the top edge of the case or supported from below. I'm not bothered by the lack of coverage when opening it, but be aware that this case may not be the best choice if you're accident-prone or are otherwise looking for full coverage for your iPad. (By the way, the Logitech Ultrathin Keyboard Folio fits both the original iPad Mini and the iPad Mini 2/iPad Mini Retina. Both hold very securely once snapped on, but are easy to remove if needed (READ INSTRUCTIONS!) in and out , while I was debating whether I liked the case, I never felt the need to take it out of the case.) Power button, which closes/protects the iPad's power supply, is only an issue if you take a lot of screenshots . You almost never need to put your iPad to sleep using the power button, as closing the case puts the iPad to sleep with its magnets, just like Apple cases and cases. This keyboard makes me feel like I have an ultraportable laptop with me. It's great for taking notes in meetings, writing at the dinner table, or checking email and Twitter while slumped on the couch with a case and an iPad between your stomach and hips. Due to changes in iOS 7, the keyboard shortcut to enter the slideshow does not work. Although the user manual says that the shortcut key to bring up Spotlight search doesn't work on iOS 7 either, it works on my iPad Mini 2 running iOS 7.0.4. It doesn't mean anything to me as I don't think I'd ever want to run "Slideshow" and if I did I would do it from within the app. In any case, it's not Logitech's fault that Apple changed things in iOS so that a command sent from the keyboard can no longer invoke that particular function. perfect for this use. The iPad wobbles a bit when you press the screen, but it's surprisingly stable and there's no chance of it falling or tipping over, even if you press the screen hard. I love how the keyboard folds under the iPad so it can be held in one hand in either portrait or landscape mode. It's also easy to open a folio and hold it in portrait mode like a book with the keyboard on the left and the iPad on the right, and I use it often when I'm on the bus or train. I've had the case for a few weeks but haven't had to charge it yet. It arrived charged and is said to last 3 months on a single charge. The mini USB cable is used for charging but is not a power source. The mini-USB cable can be plugged into any 5W or larger power source (such as those provided by Apple for various i-devices) and should be charged from the USB port of any self-powered computer. The keyboard can be used while charging, but this is inconvenient. It shouldn't take more than a few hours to charge, so just overnight when the red "Charge Me Now" light comes on. It takes a hell of a long time to hold a charge and I used the keyboard every day and never turned it off with the switch on the side. Charging it tonight will be the first time I've had to do this since I bought it. Pairing with my iPad was very quick and didn't require much effort on my part. The keyboard goes to sleep after not being used for a while, but wakes up very quickly and reconnects to the iPad within seconds. The only time I've even noticed the keyboard waking up and reconnecting is the first time I press it in the morning or after I've left it alone for a few hours. I never turned it off, but I suppose if you're really worried about battery life you can turn it off with the side switch if you know you won't be using the keyboard functions for a while. a brilliant compromise performance for the most part. yes he is small Oh well! The iPad Mini is small, so the keyboard couldn't be bigger, or at least not much bigger. The keys are surprisingly large and their placement is mostly logical and natural for a touch typist. However, the size of the A key and the ability to pair it with capital letters instead of tabs is the main reason I'm deducting a star from this rating. The A key size throws away my deeply learned blind typing and that one big key is used to lock out capitalization (a feature I haven't remembered using for many years) instead of tabs (which I use every day). . , all day, almost every time I type something, and often as often as any other key when creating spreadsheets or entering data into spreadsheet fields) kills me every time I have to touch it. I can and have gotten used to every other variation of this keyboard, but this seemingly small design decision is a big deal. I can avoid it, but it takes concentration or I make a lot of mistakes. This will likely improve over time, but almost all of it could be avoided with just a small design change. However, I prefer this keyboard case to a full-size keyboard, even a foldable one, as a standalone device. Your iPad Mini, this thing is 5 stars and more. If you're an experienced blindsetter like me, you'll feel like this will affect your print and will never be perfect, although you will improve your accuracy over time.
