We have read laudatory reviews and reviews that promise music lovers that Sony's LDAC codec will produce sound of Hi-Res quality. Forget what Sony says in its advertisements about the sound quality of Bluetooth devices; any modern pair of Bluetooth headphones produces sound that is inferior to CD quality (and with any codec). As for Sony's LDAC codec, you need to be a very, very good music lover to notice its difference in sound (in maximum quality) from the aptX HD codec. At the same time, you lose all sound quality settings, which means you have to listen to music according to the preference of the headphone manufacturer. However, if you are a very, very good music lover, you might be able to notice its difference in sound (in maximum quality). If you were successful in finding music encoded with the LDAC codec, the default connection to the audio source will be 330 kbps. This will give you the same quality as the aptX codec. Even if you are extremely fortunate and have located a sound source that offers the highest possible quality for LDAC (990 kbps), the sound quality will still be inferior to the quality of a CD. At the same time, when you increase the quality to its maximum (990 kbps), the connection becomes less stable (which, again, will negatively affect the sound quality). And the difference in sound quality between different codecs can be explained in a straightforward manner: it is due to different sound profile settings, and the equalizer will be of assistance to you in this regard. If you consider yourself a music lover and want to listen to music in HI-FI quality, then you should purchase high-quality headphones that are expensive (and not Bluetooth headphones at any cost) and listen to music from a sound source that is of high quality (and not from a cheap smartphone). Because sound transmitted over Bluetooth is significantly inferior to sound transmitted over wires in all respects. I am of the opinion that the Sony WH-XB900N wireless headphones do not meet the contemporary requirements for functionality and have not done so for a considerable amount of time; consequently, I do not recommend purchasing them (and their similar ones from Sony). The cost is exorbitant, the functionality is antiquated, and we are paying more than we should for the brand but not for the product's quality. If none of the aforementioned drawbacks are important to you and you do not have concerns regarding the cost of the headphones, then you should consider purchasing them because they are otherwise a good option. After having used them for an adequate amount of time, I have determined that they are worth two points less than their original price. On the other hand, I won't go so far as to say that these are poor headphones; however, I can confidently say that they are not worth the price.
