I'm macho and I rarely say "I like it" but this is one of those rare exceptions. The width of 31 inches doesn't leave me room to lean against a hard surface, it doesn't slip even though it rests on my sleek black notebook that I sometimes use for writing, and it rests softly on my elbows, which I put it often on my desk (I let this new notebook hang about a half inch off the edge of my wooden desk to avoid being uncomfortable leaning against the edge of the wood). Also, my wireless mouse works great with the new pad because the pile of fabric covering the foam has a short and tight pile.
