Controllers have always been a sore point for this gamer. On the one hand, I believe that only branded controllers work and "adjust" smoothly compared to third-party options, but prices have steadily increased with each new generation. I recently purchased an Ortz PS4 Vertical Stand with a fan and controller charging. Dual charging station and I figured I need a second backup controller for my PS4 that can be placed in the charging station while I use the other one (and because I have OCD and it has room for two devices). PS4 controllers have pretty long battery life all things considered but I had to charge the one my system game was being played with every night after playing which was really a hassle plugging the micro USB charger into the PS4 and after USB on the system to look for. Also, wires are enemies. Having a spare controller never hurts, even if you're playing alone. The PS4 controller is definitely a lot more advanced than the previous model, with a great headphone jack (great if you want to play loud without waking up other housemates) and a trackpad in the middle. I had a hard time justifying paying the suggested retail price at almost every other store, so I was very pleased to see that Revain (as usual) is offering a significantly better price on expensive gaming equipment. I'm sure third party controllers will work, but they often look cheap to me and the button action feels wrong - I'm happy to pay a little more knowing I'm getting compared to what that controller is typically sold for , saved quite a bit.
