I have two of these shoes, one with mesh all round and the other with neoprene panels. All the mesh in this model allows a lot of sand to enter the shoe. Well they will last. When I wear water shoes I wear them in the water but after that I usually leave them on and walk around in them until they are dry and I can easily change into a pair of regular boots. Because these soles looked like foam instead of a heavy rubber material, I didn't think they would stand up to walking on the beach and trekking up and down trails with gear to and from the water. Surprisingly, the outsole held up well and offered reasonably good traction. Even after you get out of the water and hit the muddy trails, these water shoes keep mud and dirt out pretty well. Unfortunately, the thin insoles were complete rubbish. After a little maneuvering underwater, the sole would move completely and sort of crumple under the nose or the back of the boot (one boot went one way, the other the other way). Also, the drain holes on the bottom are too big and have indentations, so small rocks get stuck in them and don't want to come out. These shoes are light and comfortable like hiking shoes, but as water shoes they are slightly shorter. They don't dry well underwater, the insole just isn't strong enough to stay in place and doesn't drain. It would be a good choice for the occasional boat trip, but if you surf, kayak, or do anything else that involves being in the water for a long time, you might want something that really lasts, is really washable, and dries quickly.
