I've heard that it costs around $300 to replace a laptop screen so it's better to replace it so I've spent the last 8 worked months without mine. Then I stumbled across a video showing how easy it is to replace them and decided I'd take a chance for around $60. Take it out for maybe ten minutes, put it back in less, and I've got a laptop again. I kick myself for not doing this sooner.
