We have an LG fridge model LFCC23596S that was purchased new in June 2020. It was a great fridge. However, after replacing the water filter, the ice completely decayed. It took on a toxic, pungent taste and even irritated the throat. It's an ice-only refrigerator with no water outlet, so flushing the system isn't easy either. You only have to let the ice work for a few days. As many have suggested, the latest versions of these filters are not properly designed and will not fit properly. Instead of rotating about a half turn after you insert them, they only rotate a quarter turn. The water either does not run through the filter or does not run properly. Big mistake by LG with a design already in doubt due to the flimsy connector. LG said it was my water line. Well, my plumbing has been fine for the last year. So I tried regular Glacier Fresh replacement filters as a last resort before calling the installer and having him pull the fridge out of my closets. Ordinary filters actually fit right - once you've put them in, twist and lock accordingly! This is about a half turn of the filter after installation, rather than partially turning on LG filters. After about 4 loads of new ice, the water will be back to normal and drinkable. Luckily. LG seems to refuse to admit that their manufacture of these filters is defective and was willing to tell me I needed a new plumbing line at my expense and time. Yes, we have braided stainless steel cord, which they say they don't recommend, but it's a perfectly standard installation that we live in and was used by the Home Depot installer when we bought the fridge. Ridiculous. Do not buy these filters. take the normal ones I can't vouch for the highest quality as I haven't melted the ice cream yet or tested it for chemicals, but for now it tastes just right. It used to be completely unusable and I was afraid it would damage my fridge beyond repair.
