Review on Zotech Illuminated Ultrathin Bluetooth Wireless by Terrance Castle

If you need a backlit keyboard for your iPad, you can't go wrong.

I was happy to find a Bluetooth keyboard with backlit keys specially designed for the iPad. I'm an amateur astronomer and use computer planetarium software in the dark set to a faint red to maintain my night vision. I can usually control text on the keyboard by finding the protrusions on the f and j keys, but deep sky objects in the night sky have a lot of numbers. I used to chew on a red flashlight and point it at the keyboard to type objects of interest. I was concerned that the red color would not adequately illuminate the letters in the pictures. But I have to say this is exactly what I need. The keyboard is similar in many ways to the Logitech keyboard that I also have. Perhaps a description of the differences will help potential buyers of this product. Logitech has long been my favorite iPad companion. It is compact and perfectly matches the style and shape of the iPad. The Zotech fits well with the iPad's magnetic edge and is really compact. However, its edges are square, so the appearance is not as smooth. This is a very small nit. Another difference is that Logitech has a very nicely designed slot that the iPad really clings to. The iPad remains firmly anchored at Logitech. At Zotech, the slot is a square-bottomed spigot, while the iPad is supported by a hinged plastic panel on the back. It's easy to install and remove. But it's not as secure as Logitech. It doesn't matter on my observation table either. Both devices use the same mini-USB charging cables for charging. Zotech has an extra row of function keys above the numbers, which is great. The delete or backspace key is larger, and it's much easier for me to get into the light or dark without looking at the keyboard. Zotech's build quality seems pretty good, but not as good as Logitech's. But then I paid a lot less for Zotech. I would recommend this product to anyone who needs backlit keys and an iPad keyboard. Bluetooth pairing was painless and seems to hold a charge well. If anyone has any questions please ask them in the questions section and I will be sure to respond as soon as possible.
