Large pieces to assemble on the floor. I asked my 2 year old to try this and the nice thing is that most of the puzzle pieces have multiple elements of each element (e.g. find a strawberry! and there will be 2 pieces that have a strawberry) for your child can help you find them pieces and try to piece them together. It was a bit difficult and frustrating for my 2 year old (clearly intended for ages 3+) but she still loved it and we put it together 4 times the first day! All the drawings for each piece are easily recognizable for a 3 year old too which is nice - they are all terms that 3 year olds should be familiar with such as apples, mice, rabbits, dogs, strawberries etc. Fun for kids, maybe even great for classroom collaboration! Made fairly durable for repeated use but the box it came in was very difficult to close.
