I wanted warm white LEDs, around 3000-3500K and I'm guessing it's around 4000K which explains the brightness. They work on an automatic timer and work from dusk to dawn. In the summer I camp in the woods and have these lanterns all around my RV. They don't let little furry critters in my car because they don't go through the lights. So far nothing is faulty and all LEDs are working properly. Like I said, they're pretty bright, so if you want it, get them. If you want softer light, choose a lower Kelvin rating. I recommend this rope lantern.
