Review on Royal Canin Nutrition Shepherd 30 Pound by Dawn Jackson

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Suitable for some, but maybe not for the other

Finding my young GS with GI issues goes further. It's on Royal Canin GI Low Fat but according to my review it's low in calories for a dog that needs to gain weight and bulking is counterproductive. Both dogs were on Taste of the Wild. I slowly mixed RC for GS with his low fat RC GI and the result was good for the first two weeks until I changed the amount in favor of the GS formula. Can't tell for sure if it was food or something he got into from the outside. So I stopped giving him the GS formula. So what to do with over 20 pounds of dog food? Mix with my Elder Shepherd's TOTW and use as a snack. Maybe I'll try again with a young GS. I am not criticizing the quality of the RC GS mix. What confuses me is the price increase for the German Shepherd mix, about $10 for a 30 pound bag. For that kind of money, it has gotten me into making supplements for my young Shepherd, like ground turkey, egg, sweet potato, and green bean combos, along with its RC GI formula.

Pros
  • SPECIAL HOOK: Unique spherical shape designed for the German Shepherd's long, strong snout to encourage chewing
Cons
  • Functionality
