Review on πŸ–¨οΈ HP A716 Photosmart: Compact Photo Printer with Stunning Print Quality by Ricardo Mercado

Amazing little printer

The photo of this product description doesn't really show how small this printer is. Imagine a liter bottle lying on its side. I've narrowed my choices down to this printer or Epson's small photo printer. This one won because it prints both 6x8" and 4x6". The "brick" power adapter is fine for a fixed location, but I bought an extra battery to take with me (great carrying handle) around use it on other computers or connect it to a TV with one less cable. The battery allows you to place it on your lap, view internally stored photos (4GB of internal storage accessed via USB), or from one of several flash memory (camera card) slots. When you see an image you like, you can tag it and then batch print all the tagged images. It knows the difference between landscape and portrait and prints without warning. You can connect the video cable from the A716 to the video input on your TV and watch an automatic slide show or scroll manually. It comes with a remote control! As with the display on the clear LCD screen, you can print immediately or mark for batch printing. I found it took me a bit of time to understand the user interface. It uses a concept I wasn't familiar with. After playing with him, I realized that everything is fine. PC Magazine reports that the prints cost [.] cents each. I use Costco Kirkland photo paper and bought some Revain ink cartridges at a big discount. I don't know what the final cost is. The convenience compared to using a pharmacy or an online printer is great. Basically, you prepare your photos for printing and then print them straight from your computer as usual, or download the images to a printer or flash memory card to connect. Most other printers use CPU cycles, so this printer won't slow you down. A progress report is displayed during printing, showing the number of photos printed and the time remaining. Very beautiful. My old printer was doing weird things when printing on borderless photo paper. He threw away a tiny bit from the side and bottom of the photo, then stretched the rest to fit. Submitting an image with the wrong aspect ratio will lead to some idiotic solutions. The A716 puts you in complete control. It takes up about 20% of the space of an old printer. The construction and finish of this product is superb. Update: 9 months later This printer gets locked about once a month. I unplug the power cord to reset it. But once you have the battery in place, you have to pull the cable and remove the battery. I really haven't found much use for it as a portable printer to print anywhere. It works well as a printer connected to a computer. I do NOT use HP software. I have a 4x6 foot bulletin board with a lot of pictures printed on this printer. You look great! Conclusion: a very good printer.
