Because cats are idiots
My wife has a cat that likes to chew on thin power cords (anything that has a power adapter, for example: internet modem, router, alarm clock, etc .) .) . He also hates Jesus for chewing on our LED Christmas tree lights last year. So I wrapped a 1/4" loom around all the vulnerable wires and it worked great.
