I have had this radio for almost 20 years now and it works just as well as it did then. FM reception and sound quality is pretty decent in my area considering the rough terrain I live in. When I originally bought this I lived in the Greensboro/High Point, NC area and the smoother terrain made it easy to accommodate more stations. Also, there were a lot more radio stations there than where I live now. The AM reception is phenomenal for such a small device. During the day I easily dial 580 WCHS and 680 WKAZ. At night I like to wear them when I walk my dog and they pick up the 650 WSM, mostly at full power and with near perfect sound quality. This device sits so comfortably in the ears and behind the neck. It has a great ergonomic design that will be comfortable for most people. Sony makes its products durable. I have a Sony ICF-9650W which has the best sound quality I've ever heard from a table radio, with AM sounding almost as good as FM and FM as good as audiophile recordings. The only issue I have with my SRF-H5 is that the plastic neckband has faded from years of use. But that doesn't detract from the technical qualities of this radio.
