Review on ATD Tools 7549 Spring Compressor by Richard Cartner

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good product in Steering & Suspension Tools

Says don't use more than 5mm. My springs are 6mm. I used it anyway (at my own risk). Be sure to use a heavy duty 2 bolt and 8 washer chain if you are using it and at least 1 bolt and 4 washers for the chain to the frame. Wind the chain around the spool (2 to 4 links). Keep adjusting the chain as you tighten it, don't let the chain slack. Leave enough rods on each end of the coil to properly install the spring. You'll hear a loud click when you release it, so get ready. Stay away from this thing until you've got the spindle and locknuts on, seriously! I only had to compress the spools 3.5 inches to fit over the 88 c1500's new lower arm, then used a jack underneath to mount the spindle. I left the chain and jack under the control arm while I removed the compression tool. First I raised the control lever about an inch. GOSSIP!. I ordered new underwear. but I lived to tell my story when I first used a spiral compression tool. Yes, I recommend this product. I would take the one that fits your spring diameter.
