As the title of the review suggests, I consider this an accessory, not a daily necessity. After all, you could just travel with a DE razor "unloaded" and save your fingers from possible cuts while you search for your razor in your toiletry bag. But while it's not an essential item, I think it's a worthy addition to your shaving kit. Finally, DE razor users are typically not minimalist when it comes to facial hygiene when it comes to the essentials that come with it: shaving soap/cream, blades, badger hair brush, alum block, aftershave. So why not take care of your razor and your face when you're out and about and avoid cutting your fingers at the same time? Whatever it is, it's a well-made product. It sits nice and tight on my Merkur HD Classic. Real leather is as beautiful as my travel toiletry bag, which suits me very well. It's as good as it gets for an item like this, which means it should only last as long as you intend to travel. I never see mine worn out. The button closure is light but nice and the side seams are well done. It's long enough to accommodate most long-handled versions and the hood is wide enough to extend a good 1/4 inch either side of my razor's blade end - a nice touch that shows some thought has gone into keep your fingers away. of sharp things.
