Review on ๐ŸŽฎ Open-Back Gaming Headset with Noise-Cancelling Microphone, Velour Earpads - Enhanced Comfort (Black) by Robert Sample

The microphone is barely audible

First of all, the headphones sound great. I've never owned open-back headphones and was pleasantly surprised at how good they sounded without shutting out the outside world. However, the microphone is almost useless. I use these phones with both my home gaming console and my work laptop. The headset plugs into a USB adapter and then into a KVM switch, allowing me to easily switch between the two. If you SHOUT into the mic on one of the machines, it barely registers a 1% level. As a test, I plugged a headset directly into the headset jacks on my home computer's motherboard, and the mic still picks up almost nothing unless I go into the sound settings and use the "Boost" setting. Unfortunately, this option is not available with a USB connection. I read a couple of articles that said this was indeed a problem with Windows 10 and that the only solution was to install some cumbersome equalizer tools to boost the signal. . This is not an option for me when using my work laptop because the tool is not approved for use by my employer. I have to say that the microphone on my previous headset, the Sennheiser PC350, worked very well. However, after many years of reliable service, the left driver failed. So I thought I'd go broke. I regret buying these things. I ended up buying a $50 mic preamp along with an adapter cable to connect to a USB adapter. Even with the preamp I have to crank it up to about 9 to get sound on the mic. The whole thing was annoying as hell.
