I have had a pair of Beats Solo2 Wireless for a long time that I bought for $200 and there are some notable differences between these headphones and a pair of Sennheiser. Simplicity. You have three "buttons" - volume up, down and a multifunction button "b". They're very easy to use and look great, although the sound is made for bass-heavy music. However, the downside of the three-button interface has always been that my phone had to be nearby at all times to perform tasks like answering calls or using Siri. On the other hand, this pair of Sennheiser HD 4.50 is designed for functionality and unbiased sound. The controls are intuitive according to Sennheiser, but in my experience there is a bit of a learning curve and unfortunately the guide that came with the headphones only has pictures and no written instructions. However, once I got used to the controls, it was a great listening experience. The Sennheiser HD 4.50s sound very realistic and the active noise cancellation comes in handy on New York's public transport system. The 25 hour battery life is also great for commuters like me - I've been using the headphones fairly regularly since I got them two days ago and they haven't died yet. In terms of wearing comfort, the Sennheisers are a little uncomfortable for the first few hours of use, but if they break, it's fine. Summary: The Sennheiser HD 4.50 at $149 are easily the best value ANC headphones. I recommend this pair of headphones for passengers who want great sound at a great price. If your budget is higher, consider investing an extra $150 in a pair of Bose QC35 or Sennheiser PXC 550 - they'll be a lot more useful in the long run.
