My son uses it to cool his HP 15 inch laptop while he plays games. You can also use it with a 17 inch screen. There will be about an inch of overlap on each side of the pad. Everything cools down. Flip-out tabs on the bottom of the cooling pad keep the laptop in place when you have the stand. It's cumbersome to put a battery in this cooling pad, but hopefully technology will allow for that in the future. It's certainly worth the price when you factor in the cost of an overheating damaged laptop.
