Definitely not as strong as it should be. The plastic clip broke when I was tightening the first strap. After that I had to be careful not to break the rest. Replaced the broken plastic clip with a threaded quick connect to get it working. When I sit in the car and put weight on the grip, I hear the velcro buckle give. I don't know if he will survive or if he will eventually give up. The time will show. There were no instructions, and while that speaks for itself, a word on where the velcro would have helped and perhaps a warning not to overtighten the straps as they are cheap plastic. I had to remove the hardtop to install it. (was expecting that). I will leave them like that for now, as soon as one of them comes loose I will replace it with a better item.
