I bought this to replace the battery in my MacBook Pro A1708. To buy the battery locally and have it installed was going to cost well over $100. If you're patient and can follow instructions, you can install this battery yourself. Here are some things to know. The kit is VERY complete! It comes with all the tools you need and even rubber gloves if you're so inclined to use them. There is a pictorial step by step guide, however I would STRONGLY suggest you watch the short video on the product's webpage on Ebay. It was very helpful! However- be warned, the video does NOT follow the same step by step that the pictorial guide provides. It is still very beneficial. Something else to take special note of- you will need a small bit ofrubbing alcohol. You dribble this on the edge of the small yellow plastic spade that you'll use to lift the old battery off from the tape that keeps it in place. The alcohol made a huge difference in how easy it cut through the adhesive. Finally, it's hard to see in the video and in the pictures, but one of the last steps is securing a small plastic strip with a circuit on its end into a slot. If you watch the video closely, you'll see that the slot on the right has a small hinge that lifts to allow the circuit to be slipped inside and then locked in place. (The demonstrator uses the black pick to do this.) Sounds complicated, but it's not if you know what to look for. It probably took me an hour to do this, but I took things very slowly and made sure I wasn't screwing anything up. I liked the challenge and I'm super glad I did it myself. My computer has a new lease on life!
