Despite what Norpro says, these bowls hold some odors. I chopped up some garlic and kept it in one of these bowls for about 30 minutes. I washed the bowl with hot soapy water and then held it to my nose. I could still smell the garlic. I washed the bowl again and let it dry. The next day the faint smell of garlic was still there. I've had the same experience with other hot ingredients like smoked paprika. Hope that helps :)
